Founded in 1974 by Larry Davis, Sunbury Football Club – Junior Division is one of the oldest junior clubs in the Riddell District Football League. Initially part of the Oak Park Junior Football League, the club began with teams in the U9, U11, and U14 age groups. In 1982, it transitioned to the RDJFL, where it has flourished, securing numerous premierships across all age levels and producing several junior players who have gone on to the AFL.
In 2024, the Sunbury Lions Junior Football Netball Club serves a rapidly growing player base, with around 300 participants spread across two leagues, including 12 football teams and 7 netball teams, all competing on Sunday mornings. Looking ahead to the 2025 season, we are excited to welcome a Sunbury Lions FIDA team, further strengthening our community connections and providing more opportunities for inclusive participation in sports.
